Created by Philip DeGuere, Simon & Simon revolved around the weekly cases of private eyes Rick and A.J. Simon, brothers and partners in their San Diego-based detective agency. The show ran for eight seasons on CBS from 1981 to 1989. Rick, played by Gerald McRaney, possessed a Marine Corps background and enjoyed his own sense of vigilante justice. In contrast, younger brother A.J., played by Jameson Parker, boasted a college education and a by-the-book means of integrity. Their clash of street vs. book smarts created conflict during investigations, though the two would learn to take advantage of their individual styles. Other notable characters included their mother Celia Simon (Mary Carver), their successful competitor Myron Fowler (Eddie Barth), Lieutenant Marcel Proust “Downtown” Brown (Tim Reid), and Lt. Abigail Marsh (Joan McMurtrey). The inseparable duo returned to the screen in 1995 for the reunion movie Simon & Simon: In Trouble Again.
